Membership

For us at Hype, a young professional is anyone aged 18 or older who lives or works in Riley, Geary or Pottawatomie counties. This includes people with careers from all industries and college students. Even though we are “young professionals,” our organization is for the young-at-heart. To be eligible for leadership positions within Hype and/or to be considered for any of our Young Professional awards, you must be 18 to 40 years old. 

Membership costs vary based on the type of member.
Employees of Corporate Investors: Free
College Students: $15/year
Active Military & Military Spouses: $25/year
Employees of Chamber Members: $50/year
All Others: $65/year

Members get free or discounted access to all events, access to a private local young professional’s Facebook group, and access to a private job board on our website. Plus, the added benefit of being connected to other young professionals in your community!

Hype is open to those finishing college, currently employed and searching for jobs.

Hype is a program of the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce, however, you (or your employer) do not have to be members of the Chamber to become a member of Hype or attend a Hype event.

Contact the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce to modify, or cancel your membership. We would hate to see you go! Before you make that choice, please try all pillars and determine if one has programming that is more suitable to your needs.

We accept credit cards for membership through this website. Just fill out a membership form. If paying online, you have the ability to pay annually or monthly. We also accept checks, payable to the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce. Please contact the Chamber to facilitate payment via check.

You can view all of our current investors here. Employees of investors receive membership access at no cost. 

Joining a Team

To join a Team, navigate to the Team page by selecting from the Pillars dropdown menu. There is information on how to join on each Team’s page. Alternatively, you may email us at hello@hypemhk.com

Team members are expected to attend monthly meetings, contribute to the overall brainstorming and planning of team programming, attend events and assist with the other tasks and assignments as needed.

Each team will meet monthly for a minimum of one hour. We ask that you assist with planning efforts for team programming and attend events throughout the year.

The meeting schedule is up to each Team but at a minimum, Teams meet monthly.

Organization Structure

Hype is a program of the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce. We are a member-driven organization led by our Teams of volunteers. The Steering Committee is the Team which provides broad oversight for Hype and serves as the liaison between Hype and the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce.

Hype carries out its mission through five pillars. Each pillar serves as a focus area for impact, action, and programming. Each pillar is supported by a Team (committee), which develops events and programming within the purview of its respective pillar.

You can register/RSVP for most events electronically on our website. Additionally, you can contact the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce.

Yes! Anyone is welcome to attend Hype events. If you are not a member, you may encounter a cost for the event.

Please contact the Chair or Co-chair of the Team which is putting on the event.

Contact the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce if you are interested in hosting an event at your business or becoming a sponsor.

Hype members gain access to nearly all Hype events for free! The only exception to this are certain signature events where Hype members will receive a significantly discounted rate.
